Policy 4.1 - Hiring Process
Part 1: Purpose
It is the goal of °µÍø½ûÇø (LSC) to recruit and retain the highest quality employees. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that in fulfilling this goal, the college adheres to all contractual and legal requirements and promotes equity and diversity in all of its search processes.
Part 2: Policy
Subpart A: Equal Opportunity
°µÍø½ûÇø is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system (Minnesota State). We are an Equal Opportunity employer/educator committed to the principles of diversity. We actively seek and encourage applications from women, minorities, and persons with disabilities. Human Resources (HR), the Affirmative Action Officer (AAO), and the appropriate administrator will be involved in all phases of the search process to ensure this commitment is maintained.
Subpart B: Approval of All Positions
Requests to fill all vacancies and all new or replacement positions require the approval of
the President’s Cabinet. The appropriate administrator or supervisor is responsible for drafting the position description, providing justification to the President’s Cabinet to support filling the position and providing a signed New Employment Requisition to the appropriate administrator. Upon request, HR is available to provide assistance in preparing the position description. The administrator will forward the employment requisition form with an updated position description to HR for review. The hiring supervisor is responsible for completing the position filling checklist.
